Trails and Cycling Tours

Hiking Route 7 – Lindau–Kiel Canal is a circular trail through the varied landscape of the southern Dänischer Wohld region to the Kiel Canal.

The Rendsburg-Eckernförde district has five long-distance cycling routes, five e-bike tours, and twelve themed routes ranging from 24 to 79 kilometers in length. They pass sights and lead through scenic natural areas.

Culture and History

Lindau Manor was built in 1720 as the manor house of Lindau Castle. An old manor house in Lindau, reached via an avenue, is part of the local landscape. Lindau Manor is also considered to be well connected to Kiel and Eckernförde.

Memorials in Großkönigsförde and Revensdorf are among the elements that help shape the landscape of the municipality of Lindau.

On the Way

The Devil’s Stone in Großkönigsförde is an established destination and resting point for cyclists and walkers. The Devil’s Stone is considered the largest glacial erratic in Schleswig-Holstein. A paved footpath and cycle path leads to the Devil’s Stone. Bicycle parking is available; car parking nearby is limited, and a municipal parking lot is also available about 500 meters to the south.

A local legend says that the devil hurled the stone at the church in Gettorf. Another local legend attributes the crooked church tower in Gettorf to the airflow caused by the stone.
