Rendsburg-Eckernförde: Hotels and accommodations

Rendsburg-Eckernförde is a district of Schleswig-Holstein with a Baltic Sea coast. It combines coastal Baltic landscapes with the hilly inland region as well as geest and lowland landscapes.

Nature and water

The district has a varied, hilly landscape and includes three nature parks: Westensee, Aukrug and Hüttener Berge. Moorland landscapes surround Rendsburg; moraine landscapes extend eastwards to the Baltic Sea.

The Eider, the Kiel Canal and Lake Flemhude are located in the Rendsburg area. A 7 km walk around Lake Flemhude showcases wetland landscapes and biodiversity that has developed in an area influenced by the construction of the canal.

Hiking routes in the district lead through fields, hedgerows, forests, heathlands, moors and landscapes along historic routes.

History and regional destinations

Within the district, Rendsburg has a historic garrison character, while Eckernförde has a historic old town.

The wider surrounding region is home to the Laboe Naval Memorial, the Runestone and Haithabu. The surrounding area also contains a wildlife park as well as Tüteberg, Wartenberg, Mövenberg and Borkenberg.

Cycling and water

The district offers opportunities for cycling and water tours, including a cycling tour along the Kiel Canal and the Elbe.
