Located on the edge of Aukrug Nature Park, Hamweddel is just a few kilometres from the Kiel Canal. The Luhnau flows through the village. Hamweddel offers a small-scale rural visitor experience with walks by the village pond and in the adjoining forests, as well as relaxation in nature; the Luhnau and Luhnaubrücke serve as local landmarks.

Culture and History

The Masurenhof Kollmoor in Hamweddel houses a gallery with more than 300 paintings by the artist and portrait painter Günter Lingner. The works include motifs relating to Prussian history, landscapes, city views, animals, nudes and portraits. The name Masurenhof reflects Günter Lingner’s enduring connection to his former home in East Prussia.

In the surroundings of Hamweddel is St. George’s Church in Jevenstedt.
