Lübs: Hotels and Accommodation

Lübs lies on the edge of the Ueckermünde Heath and is surrounded by forests and meadows. The village is home to milling history and a village church.

Natural Area and Activities

The Ueckermünde Heath is predominantly characterized by nutrient-poor sandy soils. Sand deposits transported by the wind and inland dunes shape its character. South of the Szczecin Lagoon, the heath offers opportunities for hiking, cycling, and horseback riding.

The wider Vorpommern-Greifswald area is also crossed by four long-distance cycle routes. Other cycling routes there include the Szczecin Lagoon Circular Route. Cycling allows visitors to explore the landscape along the Szczecin Lagoon, the Peene, the Uecker, and the Randow. Visitor activities in Vorpommern-Greifswald also include canoeing and beaver watching.

Milling History in Lübs

The Lübs Mill Museum illustrates the journey from grain to bread. The replacement mill in Lübs operated with an electric drive instead of wind power. In 2004, the municipality converted the Lübs Mill into a museum with a demonstration workshop.

A regularly used wood-fired oven stands on the mill grounds. The mill complex also includes a miller's house that is more than 100 years old. The museum also covers milling technology and the history of the village.

The Lübs motor mill is considered the first mill of its kind in the region.

Church and Historical Furnishings

The church in Lübs is considered a Neo-Gothic brick building dating from 1897. It replaced an earlier half-timbered church that had stood in the village since the 16th century.

The church still contains a pulpit altar and pews from the 18th century, as well as carved figures of Saint Anne Trinity and Saint John from the first half of the 16th century.
