Altwarp: Hotels and Accommodations

Altwarp is located in the far east of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and is Germany’s northeasternmost point on the mainland.

Location and Landscape

The village is situated on a peninsula on the southern shore of the Szczecin Lagoon, at the narrow entrance to Lake Neuwarper See. There is a sandy beach near the village center. The small body of water called Great Moor is located about 800 meters southwest of Altwarp.

In the immediate vicinity of Altwarp are, for example, Cape Trendel and the hills Beckersberg, Glienkenberg, and Kaulbarschberg.

Culture and History

In the wider regional area around Altwarp are, for example, the Ukranenland Museum, Stolpe Castle – a castle – and Mellenthin Moated Castle – also a castle. The surrounding area includes Ahlbeck Village Church – a church.

From 1938 to 1945, Altwarp was used as a military training area with an air-to-sea firing range.
