Nature

The Thürkower Bach is a protected natural monument and a naturally flowing body of water with rare plants and birds. It flows into Lake Teterow.

In the wider surrounding region, the Mecklenburg Switzerland and Lake Kummerow Nature Park offers views of gently rolling hills, fields, forests, lowlands, lakes, and small villages.

Cycle Paths and Landscape

The 97-kilometer Three-Lakes Cycle Tour starting from Teterow includes the one-kilometer section between Todendorf and Thürkow. A nearby cycle route also includes an approximately 800-meter-long sandy section located within a European bird sanctuary. Another cycle route through Appelhagen, Thürkow, and Todendorf leads from hilly terrain into open meadows and pastureland.

Culture and History

Thürkow village church has a brick nave dating from the 15th century. Next to the church stands a half-timbered bell house built later, in which a bell hangs. The church interior is considered simple; it contains a masonry altar.

Individuals and groups can arrange tea ceremonies at the museum one week in advance. Schloss Mitsuko is associated with the German Japan Museum, which is considered a museum of contemporary art. The hydroelectric power station with a water wheel is considered a local attraction.
