Groß Roge: Hotels and Accommodations

Groß Roge is home to Lake Wotrumer, a 38-hectare lake. Boats and electric motors are permitted on Lake Wotrumer. The lake has a recorded depth of 2.6 meters; fish species listed include eel, perch, bream, pike, carp, roach, tench, catfish, and zander.

Water and Landscape

Wotrum can also be explored by bicycle: Tour 10, “Exploring the Southern ParkLand,” is a 32-kilometer bike tour that includes Wotrum.

Culture and History

Zierstorf was first documented in 1317. Zierstorf Manor House is considered an 18th-century building, and part of its half-timbered structure has been preserved. The Poggehaus is an exhibition venue dedicated to the life and work of members of the Pogge family.

The Paul Pogge Information and Meeting Center was established in the manor house in 1995 by the Zierstorf Heritage Association together with the Thünen Museum in Tellow. The main exhibition room focuses on Paul Pogge’s life and travels, the colonial and postcolonial eras, and art and everyday objects from Central Africa.
