The Estate Complex and Townscape
The estate complex includes the manor house at Am Gutshof 11, 12, 13 and 14, as well as the stable at Am Gutshof 3 and 4. The Rostock district’s list of monuments records both components as of May 14, 2024. Their different address ranges make it easier to distinguish the manor house and stable as parts of the same complex. Parts of the Neo-Gothic stable buildings have been preserved; their condition may change. The Neo-Gothic design gives the stable area its own architectural character within the ensemble.

One cycling route is listed as “Schwasdorf – Gartenstadt-Stadtweide” and is 64 km long; a second cycling route, “Schwasdorf – Eixen,” is 43 km long. Transport and Navigation
In Poggelow, a district of the municipality that includes Schwasdorf, the L 23 runs east of the built-up areas. As a tangential link, it connects the B 108 to the south with the B 110 to the north and links Schwasdorf with neighboring municipalities. Bus routes 224 and 225 to Teterow and Gnoien also run through Poggelow. Check the current timetable when planning a specific journey. The road link and bus routes provide different points of reference: the L 23 describes the connection between the federal roads, while routes 224 and 225 name Teterow and Gnoien as destinations.
Northwest Mecklenburg as a Regional Setting
Northwest Mecklenburg is a destination in its own right, with its own landscape and cultural themes. In the north of Northwest Mecklenburg lies the “Northwest Mecklenburg Hills and Wismar Bay” landscape area, while the “West Mecklenburg Lake District with Lake Schwerin” lies to the south. Terminal moraine ridges, gently undulating ground-moraine plateaus, stretches of steep and gently sloping coast, meltwater and drainage channels, and outwash plains shape the region’s landscape. The contrast between the hilly terrain and the lake district makes the differences between these landscapes tangible. Cultural highlights in Northwest Mecklenburg include Gadebusch Castle in Gadebusch: the Renaissance castle, dating from 1573, is considered a rare example of Mecklenburg or North German brick Renaissance architecture and features reliefs in the regional Johann Albrecht style. In Northwest Mecklenburg, the “Radegast Valley” landscape conservation area covers around 600 hectares between Rehna’s southern edge and Neddersee near Gadebusch. It encompasses the Radegast’s highly meandering, near-natural course, along with adjacent grassland, reed beds, groves and wet woodland.
