Hallstavik: Nature, Local History and Active Days

Walks and Beaches in the Surrounding Area

In the Häverö prästäng nature reserve, paths lead through wooded areas and pastures and invite you to go for walks. Several beaches complement the landscape. There is a picnic area with a barbecue site and benches for taking a break. There is also an accessible toilet with a changing table next to the car park. This nearby natural area therefore combines various opportunities for spending time outdoors: You can combine walks through the landscape with a visit to the beach or a break at the picnic area.

Local Heritage and Industrial History

It comprises nine buildings from the 18th and 19th centuries that were relocated to present-day Hallstavik from various parts of these former parishes. The centre includes, among other things, a former classroom from Ronöholm School, a forge, a flax kiln, a threshing barn and other barns. The buildings are filled with contemporary objects, thereby providing insights into past working and everyday life.

At the Häverö-Edebo local heritage centre, coffee, waffles and ice cream are sold. This adds a specific on-site offering to the visit without overshadowing the historic character of the centre. In Hallstavik, you can also visit the intact industrial facility dating from around the turn of the century.

Church at the Paper Mill

Another cultural and historical point of interest is Hallstavik Church. It is located at the paper mill in Hallstavik, was originally designed by Professor Ivar Tengbom and inaugurated in 1933 by Archbishop Erling Eidem. The three details—the location at the paper mill, the original design and the complete year of inauguration—characterise the church as part of the town's local and industrial history.

Horse Riding, Tennis, Swimming and Speedway

Hallstavik also offers several clearly distinct opportunities for active days. The riding school of Hallstaviks Ryttarförening welcomes children aged six and over for group riding. It also offers private lessons with or without your own horse. There are groups for show jumping and dressage for those with specific interests.

Hallstaviks Tennisklubb offers tennis on two floodlit outdoor clay courts. The lighting means that games can also be played on dark autumn evenings. Hallstavik outdoor swimming pool is accessible to people with disabilities. Motorsport enthusiasts will find the Rospiggarna speedway team in Hallstavik, north of Stockholm. In the tourist presentation, the team is considered one of Sweden's best teams; this classification should therefore be understood as a representation rather than a general ranking.
