Hejls between nature, trails and active experiences

Hejls Nor is a natural area that shapes how visitors orient themselves in Hejls. Hejls Nor, also known as Hejlsminde Nor, is a Natura 2000 site with a rich variety of bird and plant life. At Hejls Nor, in the VargÄrde Skov coastal forest and along the paths through Hejls, there are various opportunities for observing nature and staying active.

Natural Area and Coastal Forest

The circular trail around Hejls Nor leads through a unique natural area with white-tailed eagles, marsh harriers and blooming orchids in early summer. In early summer, the blooming orchids along the circular trail add a seasonal highlight. In the surroundings of Hejls, the VargÄrde Skov coastal forest lies west of the town; a marked hiking trail runs along its coast. The marked trail along the coast of VargÄrde Skov is a different section of the landscape from the circular trail around the Nor. Depending on your interests, you can focus on the bird and plant life, the forested coast or the view across the Nor.

Trails for Active Days

Several routes are relevant when planning trips on foot or by bicycle. A recreational trail on the former railway line runs through Hejls and continues to Hejls Nor. A national cycle route runs through Hejls and leads out of the town along Overbyvej. A regional cycle route passes Hejls Kirke, then continues along the trail and connects with the national cycle route. This gives cyclists a choice between the route to the Nor and the route leading out of the town. Several elevated locations in the southern part of Hejls offer views towards Hejls Nor.

Multipark and Football Golf

Hejls Multipark offers a different kind of experience. It is an activity and nature park with a zip line, a Tarzan course and a paved cycling track. There are also outdoor fitness facilities, a Panna court and opportunities to play Krolf. The paved cycling track is located in the Multipark, while the marked hiking trail runs along the coast of VargÄrde Skov.

At Kolding Fodboldgolf in Hejls, a round for four people on the 18-hole football golf course takes approximately 1.5 hours. The 18-hole course features obstacles, bunkers and water hazards. Visitors can also try Bubble Soccer, 5-Kamp and StÞdbÄnd.

Historic Hejls

Hejls Kirke was built in the 12th century and has a Romanesque nave and chancel, as well as a Gothic tower. The nave and chancel follow the Romanesque architectural style, while the tower is Gothic.

Getting Around the Multipark

Low-barrier paths connect the two destinations between the car park at Hejls Multihus and Hejls Multipark; toilets are available in the adjacent hall. From Hejls Multipark, paths lead into the surrounding landscape at Hejls Nor and LillebĂŠlt.
