Knislinge: Cycling, Culture and Golf
Accommodation in Knislinge
Anyone looking to combine a trip with cycling, local cultural experiences and active breaks will find various points of interest in Knislinge. These include historic buildings and collections, as well as a 5 km cycling stage, a kickbike track, exercise facilities and a golf course just outside the town. This makes it possible to choose accommodation according to your personal travel interests without reducing Knislinge to just one activity.
Church, Historic Farms and Museums
Knislinge Church was built at the beginning of the 13th century. Its baptismal font is considered one of the most significant works by the so-called Knislinge Master. Anyone interested in church art and older architectural history can include this site in their travel plans. Knislinge Church is open on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00 and during services.
The Knislinge Local Heritage Association holds its collections and meetings at Klockaregården, a quadrangular farm opposite the church. Klockarebostället has existed since at least the 17th century. The ground floor of Brygghuset houses a school museum, while the upper floor contains a museum of tools and equipment. These different locations focus on different aspects: the church represents sacred art and architectural history, while the museums provide insights into schools, equipment and local community life.
Cycling and Exercise in Knislinge
The “Cykla i Snapphanespår” cycling tour includes a 5 km section from Knislinge to Emmislöv. This specific route length is useful for planning the day if you would like to make a cycling tour a fixed part of your stay. In addition, Knislinge has a lit exercise trail at Åke backe by the water tower on Göingevägen. The outdoor gym is located at scenic Åke backe between the lit exercise trail and the golf course.
The kickbike track in Knislinge is available for another active outing. It is located next to the bus station and a playground; there is also a barbecue area and several, partly covered, seating areas. The track is also suitable for younger and inexperienced riders. At the bowling hall in Knislinge, lanes can be booked, providing an indoor activity option as well.
Golf by the Helge å
Östra Göinge Golf Club is located just outside Knislinge on the winding Helge å river. The course is described as a partly hilly parkland and woodland facility with a varied character. You can play 5, 9, 13 or 18 holes there. This choice of round lengths makes it easier to fit golf into the day in different ways. At the same time, the course remains a separate travel option alongside the town’s cultural and exercise-oriented activities.
Contemporary Culture at Folkets Park
Since 2025, the Milvus Artistic Research Center has been based at Knislinge Folkets Park. There, the centre presents contemporary dance and performance and provides an environment for artistic research outside the metropolitan context. The “With Care” programme includes a two-year residency programme for Ukrainian artists with a focus on performance. The Time To Rock Festival also takes place at Knislinge Folkets Park. Anyone looking for cultural events and contemporary art can take these offerings into account when planning their trip without focusing their stay exclusively on historical attractions.
For a wider selection of locations, you can also view Hanaskog, Sibbhult, Glimåkra, Immeln and Broby.
