Sibbhult combines hiking through varied landscapes with a local history shaped by stone, craftsmanship and industry. This raises a practical question when choosing where to stay: should you devote your time primarily to hiking, or would you like to include nature trails and the town’s cultural themes in your travel plans? The Skåneleden stages differ both in their scenery and in the role Sibbhult plays along the way. There is also a walking area for children, a playground and several places connected with stone and local history. This gives you a range of options for active days and cultural experiences.

Hiking Trails and Stages

Stage 9 of Skåneleden SL6 leads from Immeln to Sibbhult and offers hikes through the wilderness of Skåne. Stage 10A runs from Sibbhult to Breanäs and passes through mixed forest, wet bogs and grazed woodland. Choosing between the two therefore depends on both the landscape and Sibbhult’s role as a destination or starting point. If you are considering the first stage of the Snapphaneleden, you can find another route description: it starts at the well in Arkelstorp, passes through Immeln and ends in Sibbhult. The starting and ending points give you a clear way to distinguish between the stages based on their routes.

Walking Area and Playground

Barnens Skog in Sibbhult is a walking area for children. In Stora parken, centrally located in Sibbhult near the bus stop, there is a playground with various climbing frames and swings for older and slightly older children. You can choose between different activities: a walk in Barnens Skog or time on the playground equipment in the park. Sibbhult also has a bus stop. If you plan to travel by bus, check the timetable for your journey in advance.

Stone and Industrial History

Workshop industries and quarries shaped Sibbhult in the past. Glass and lamps are documented as having been made at the glassworks from 1892; it closed permanently in 1903. The design of Sibbhults kyrka also reflects Sibbhult’s development into an industrial town towards the end of the 19th century. The church was inaugurated in 1943. Its design thus points to the town’s industrial transformation, while the inauguration took place later.

The Lapidarium in Sibbhult is a museum of gravestones. The Stone Museum displays stones from the surrounding area and shows how they are worked by grinding. The sculpture park in Sibbhult contains stone sculptures, most of which were moved from Breanäs. Together, these places show different connections to stone: as a gravestone, as material from the surrounding area and as sculpture.
