Hiking trails and outdoor activities

Glimåkra has several fitness and hiking trails. They start at the car parks near Trollacenter or Trollabadet; these two starting points can help you choose where to begin. The Trollstigen is an adventure trail for children. The Skåneleden runs through Trollabackarna. The descriptions therefore distinguish between the trails: the Trollstigen is described as an adventure for children, while the Skåneleden is noted for its route through Trollabackarna.

Trollacenter offers activities for the whole family, including short walking trails, a skatepark, a playground and an outdoor gym. These options complement the hiking and fitness trails with other ways to exercise and spend time outdoors. If you are planning a trip to Glimåkra with children, you will find the other activities mentioned at Trollacenter alongside the Trollstigen, which is specifically described as an adventure trail for children.

Weaving, glass and Kulturspåret

The Svenska VävstolsMuseet has a permanent exhibition of looms and weaving tools. The museum also has a library of textile books. Another focus is hand weaving: eight to ten courses in crafts and traditional handicrafts are held there each year. The annual programme may vary. If you would like to plan your trip around a course, check the latest dates.

The Glimma Glasmuseum displays photographs and glass from the former factory, which ceased operations in 1969. In Glimåkra, the history of textile crafts and an earlier chapter in glassmaking are therefore presented as distinct cultural themes. Kulturspåret also features stories from Glimåkra as retold by Per Gustavsson. You can also experience the collected works of Hiroshi Koyama in Glimåkra.

Church and local history

Today’s Glimåkra kyrka was built in 1837–1838 on the site of an older church dating from the 13th century. It is centrally located in Glimåkra and surrounded by a lush green park. The church is open during services and on weekdays from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. If you are planning a visit, you can take these hours into account.

The history of the railway settlement is also visible in the townscape: much of its wooden architecture from around 1900 has been preserved. Another historical trace is the Glimåkra–Kristianstad railway line, built in 1886 in the immediate vicinity of the church. Together with the town’s earlier church history, these details provide different points of reference for exploring Glimåkra’s development.

Trollabadet and seasonal activities

Trollabadet is located by Trollasjön, with the forest of Trollabackarna in the background. The outdoor pool is one of Östra Göinge Municipality’s two seasonal outdoor pools. They are open in summer, from June to August. For 2026, reopening was scheduled for 6 June. If you are including a visit in your seasonal plans, check the latest dates before your trip.

The Trollarinken ice rink is located on the grounds of Trollacenter. Curling is available on two smaller rinks. The ice rink’s availability may change, and curling is seasonal. Check in advance whether these activities will be available when you visit.

A trip to Drakeberga Hembygdsgård

Drakeberga Hembygdsgård is in the vicinity of Glimåkra, right next to Trollabadet, north of the town. Its collection includes donated objects from various places associated with the parish. The local heritage farm is open from May to September on the first Tuesday of each month, from 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm. You can take these set seasonal dates into account when planning; if a visit is an important part of your trip, it is advisable to check them against your specific travel dates.
