Felde is located in Westensee Nature Park. The nearby Westensee offers opportunities for swimming, fishing and boating; numerous walking and cycling paths run through the surrounding area.

Nature and bodies of water

Hasenmoor covers 80 hectares and is predominantly forested. Its forest communities include beech forests, oak-birch forests, as well as areas of alder, birch and willow swamp forest. Hasenmoor Foundation Land lies in the triangle between Felde, Achterwehr and Jägerslust. Hasenmoor is also associated with the return of the adder, a reptile considered endangered throughout Germany.

The coat of arms of Felde depicts Westensee, Felder See, Flemhuder See and the Eider as the municipality’s natural bodies of water.

Hiking trails and landscape

The “Through the Felder Gehölz” hiking route begins at Seekartenweg on Felder See and leads through forest with views of Westensee. The hiking route through the Eider valley runs between Westensee and Ahrensee and returns via Achterwehr.

The region’s hiking trails lead to viewpoints, through nature and landscape conservation areas, past lakes with rest areas and towards the Kiel Canal. At the nearby Westensee, opportunities for swimming, fishing and boating, as well as numerous walking and cycling paths in the surrounding area, complement the landscape.

Townscape and history

Gut Klein Nordsee has been part of Felde since 1928.

Transport

Felde railway station connects the town with Kiel and Rendsburg. It has bicycle parking and a car park; the station also provides passenger information and improved wayfinding.

Bus route 765 runs hourly, coordinated with train arrivals and departures, via Westensee and Groß Vollstedt to Nortorf. It also runs via Achterwehr, Quarnbek, Ottendorf and Kronshagen to Kiel.
