Plöwen: Hotels and Accommodations

West of Plöwen, north of the B 104, lies the Plöwensches Seebruch nature reserve. Its elevation ranges from 8 to 14 meters above sea level. Extensive reed beds, alder swamp forests, and wetland habitats characterize the area. The wooded location by the Seebruch provides ideal conditions for hiking, nature observation, and ornithology.

Nature

The 20-hectare Kutzowsee lake is located near Plöwen. It offers opportunities for swimming, leisure activities, and relaxation. A nature trail for birdwatching runs around Kutzowsee. The Kutzow See bathing area includes a grassy sunbathing lawn and a bathing jetty.

Geographical Location

Plöwen is connected to the supraregional Oder-Neisse Cycle Route network. The Oder-Neisse Cycle Route runs from the source of the Neisse in the Czech Republic to the Baltic Sea; it is possible to join it at any point.

History

In the immediate vicinity of the nature reserve, the castle ramparts lie on its northwestern side. They can be reached from Löcknitz via a forest footpath. Plöwen originated between the 2nd and 4th centuries. Plöwen village church was built at the end of the 13th century as a fieldstone hall church. A rampart near Hühnerwinkel bears witness to Slavic settlement in the area in the 8th or 9th century.
