Geographical setting
Penkun is a town in Vorpommern-Greifswald, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, in the far southeast of Western Pomerania near the Polish border and Szczecin. The town is divided into ten districts.

Culture and history
Penkun had two breweries. In addition, a cotton and linen manufactory was operated in 1862 by 14 master craftsmen and six journeymen.
In the 19th century, Penkun had a Jewish community and a Jewish cemetery. The cemetery was later destroyed and subsequently cleared.
