Wilhelmsburg: Hotels and Accommodations

In terms of landscape, Wilhelmsburg is characterized by green meadows, forests, and clear lakes. Historic buildings, ecclesiastical architectural history, and paths through the surrounding landscape complete this picture.

History and Architectural Heritage

The first village settlement in Wilhelmsburg was established in 1741 by six farmers. Further settlement took place with colonists from the Palatinate. Together with Mühlenhof, Wilhelmsburg became a state domain in the first half of the 19th century.

The log house in Wilhelmsburg-Eichhof was built in 1744 on a fieldstone foundation. Its rear section has half-timbered walls dating from 1810. The building is divided into two residential units, each with a masonry hearth hood. The restored interiors convey a sense of life in earlier times. The Wilhelmsburg domain operated as a remount office until the end of the Second World War.

The Protestant church in Wilhelmsburg is Martin Luther Church. Planning for the Wilhelmsburg village church extended from 1842 to 1953. It is considered one of the few churches built during the GDR era and contains an organ from the GDR era. Wilhelmsburg Manor House was built in the first half of the 19th century using half-timbered construction and was used for residential purposes after 1945.

Wilhelmsburg's cultural offerings include traditional festivals and modern events. At the Day of Clubs 2025, the former NVA barracks site in Eichhof included bunkers where Soviet missiles were stored until 1990; a cultural association offered guided tours of the site.

Wilhelmsburg promotes walking trails through the surrounding landscape. Vorpommern-Greifswald is associated with canoeing and opportunities to observe beavers. The Ueckermünde Heath and the surrounding forests in the wider regional area are associated with hiking, cycling, and horseback riding.
