Zabiele: Hotels and Accommodations

Zabiele is a locality in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, within the municipality of Wielbark and Szczytno County. The locality was founded in the 18th century on the edge of a large meadow, northeast of Jesionowiec.

Locality and Name

The name Zabiele is derived from the Masurian dialect expression “Za biele,” meaning “behind the meadows.” Zabiele also has an Orlik sports field.

Historical Traces

The colonization of the Łatany wetlands led to the establishment of six settlements, including Olędry and Ostrowy. The site of a former interwar-period border point is located in Ostrowy.

Cycling and Waterways

The Bagno Łatany cycling route begins in Wielbark and leads toward Rozogi via unpaved roads and through wooded sections. Near Łatana Mała, it passes the remains of the former Łatany wetlands.

The Four Lakes Route runs for 33 kilometers from Lake Konieczne to the Omulew River. The Sawica kayak route leads through the forest into the municipality of Wielbark and reaches the Omulew River in Wielbark. Due to fallen trees, stronger currents, and numerous bends, it is considered difficult.

The Omulew kayak route from Lake Omulew to Wielbark runs mostly through forests and offers very little tourist infrastructure along the riverbank.
