Grønninghoved Strand on the Little Belt

Grønninghoved Strand is located on the Little Belt. At the northern end of Grønninghoved Strand lies the Grønninghoved Strandcamping campsite. The surrounding area offers Grønninghoved Strandskov, paths to Skamlingsbanken, the national Østkystruten cycle route, a double long barrow and the Mosvig fishing spot for a range of interests. Strandskov and paths near Skamlingsbanken

Grønninghoved Strandskov lies near the Little Belt in the southern part of the Skamlingsbanken complex. It serves the holiday-home area and campsite below as a recreational forest. From the car park in Grønninghoved Strandskov, a marked hiking trail leads to Skamlingsbanken. For starting on foot, this car park is the fixed reference point; the ridge provides the route with a specific destination. Anyone including the trail in their day plan can treat the section to Skamlingsbanken as a separate hiking stage.

Hiking between Højskamling and the Little Belt

The Skamlingsbankestien trail leads from Højskamling through dramatic gorges along the mountain stream to the Little Belt near Binderup and Grønninghoved Strand and back again. The trail is marked with white arrows. The return to the starting point is part of the route. Højskamling, the mountain stream and the coast near Binderup and Grønninghoved Strand give the hike different sections. When preparing, this sequence can be planned as a circular route; the white arrows help with orientation along the trail. On a hiking day, the return to the starting point should be planned in addition to the route to the coast.

Cycle route and coastal connection

For cycling tourists, the national Østkystruten cycle route (N5) passes Grønninghoved Strand. Cyclists follow a national cycle route here, while hikers use the Skamlingsbankestien trail marked with white arrows. The choice between a cycling tour and a hike depends on the route selected: N5 for cycling, Skamlingsbankestien on foot. Anyone wishing to plan both activities on different days can consider the routes separately. From Grønninghoved Strand, Skamlingsbankestien provides access to Skamlingsbanken.

A double long barrow from the Neolithic

Grønninghoved Strandskov contains a large, well-preserved double long barrow. The double long barrow dates from the Neolithic and is dated to around 3,500 BC. The double long barrow stands in the same forest where the marked hiking trail to Skamlingsbanken begins. For those interested in culture, the double long barrow can be included as a separate focus in the day's planning alongside the natural features and paths of Strandskov.

Fishing at Mosvig fishing spot

The Mosvig fishing spot extends over several kilometres. It has small reefs and large seaweed beds that can be fished. Mosvig is a good, long fishing spot near Grønninghoved Camping. When fishing here, the size of the spot and its different structures play a role. Anyone planning fishing as a day's activity can consider Mosvig separately from the hiking and cycling routes.
