Nature
Wohlde is located on a geest island in the Stapelholm region and is surrounded by the lowland areas of Bünger Koog, Treenemarsch, and Austermoor. The village is agriculturally oriented and lies on the edge of large woodland areas.
The Büngerdamm connects Wohlde with Dörpstedt and crosses the wetland on a raised embankment. In Schleswig-Flensburg, cycling and hiking trails suitable for recreational tourism have been developed. In the vicinity of Wohlde, the Wildes Moor nature reserve near Schwabstedt and the Alte Sorge loop are recommended for hiking and cycling.
History
Traces of the former Treenestade settlement are still visible in Wohlde. The Holmer Schanze was built there in 1626 by the Duke of Gottorf.
Culture
The community of Wohlde preserves regional traditions, traditional dress, and the Low German language. KULTurBRAUEREi Wohlde provides regional artists with a stage. Its regular program includes concerts, readings, and theater at Muhls Gasthof in Wohlde.
Muhls Gasthof has been in existence since 1664 and has its own microbrewery, where Schmackebräu is brewed. Schmackebräu is produced there in the varieties Helles, honey beer, and wheat beer; the beers can be purchased on site at Muhls Gasthof in Wohlde. At the inn, Wohlder Imbiss offers “Schnitzel-Heinz” schnitzel in many variations.
