Süderhackstedt: Hotels and Accommodation

The 25-kilometre Treene circular tour passes through Süderhackstedt and can be joined at any point as a circular route. It leads through extensive forests, meadows and fields and repeatedly reaches the Treene. Field paths, concreted farm roads and asphalt alternate along the route; for the most part, it runs along quiet roads and agricultural paths. The published route is currently not signposted.

Cycling and Paths

There is an extensive network of cycle paths for recreational cycling tours. The Stapelholmer Way and the Ox Road support multi-day cycling tours through the region.

Nature and Water

The Wälder im Süderhackstedtfeld protected area is a 76-hectare FFH area with deciduous forest on an old moraine ridge gently sloping southwards at the edge of the Arlau lowlands; several partly endangered forest communities occur there. The Rimmelsberg Dune and the Pobüller Bauernholz are designated nature reserves, and there is a juniper landscape on the Rimmelsberg.

The Treene has a meandering riverbed and is fed by the tributaries Jerrisbek and Jörlau. The Eggebek administrative district offers opportunities for hiking, cycling, horse riding and canoeing. In summer, the Treene can be navigated by canoe from the Langstedt launch point.

Culture and History

The Grünes Binnenland region contains traces and evidence of cultural history and German-Danish history. The Wanderup Local History Museum documents the development of villages and agriculture over the past hundred years.

The core of today's St. Peter's Church in Eggebek dates from around 1200. The church is a single-nave Romanesque brick church.

Geographical Location

Kleinjörl is about 2 kilometres from Süderhackstedt and offers a Markttreff, a bakery and a bank. Eggebek, Tarp, Jübek, Treia and Viöl are considered larger nearby centres, approximately 10 kilometres away. Flensburg, Schleswig and Husum are each around 25 kilometres away.
