Seefeld: Hotels and Accommodation

Seefeld is part of the Hademarscher Land region within Central Holstein. The Rendsburg-Eckernförde district has 55 kilometres of Baltic Sea coastline and 75 bathing spots.

Landscape

Seefeld has a predominantly agricultural landscape and is nestled within the gently undulating hedgerow landscape of Schleswig-Holstein. The northern part of the village lies in the Eider-Treene lowlands near the Kiel Canal; in terms of its natural geography, Seefeld belongs to the Hohenwestedter Geest. Mature trees shape the village character. The watercourse Rottenföhr and a number of fishponds also add distinctive features to the agricultural landscape.

History

Seefeld was first mentioned in a document in 1447. Historical forms of the place name include Sehefelde from 1633/34 and Seefelt from 1649. The construction of the Kiel Canal and extensive drainage measures caused the former lake to dry up; the former lake area was subsequently converted to agricultural use.

Activities

Extensive farm tracks offer opportunities for cycling through fields and forests. Hiking along hedgerows, fields and meadows, as well as through the forest, is also possible in Seefeld.

Regional surroundings

The Hanerau-Hademarschen area is characterised by hedgerows, forests, small villages and its proximity to the Kiel Canal. Relaxed excursions, cycling tours and holidays away from larger cities are promoted for this area. Rendsburg, Itzehoe, Heide and Neumünster can be reached from Seefeld by car in approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
