Trails and Nature

The Kaltenhofer Moor and the Stodthagener Forest are connected by an environmentally compatible network of trails and an accompanying information system. This route can be reached from Kiel Central Station by taking bus lines 900, 901 or 902 to Dänischenhagen, Eiche. In the district, signposted cycle routes connect natural areas, cultural monuments and historic sites; they run mainly along roads with little traffic.

Church and Culture

The Hildebrandt family mausoleum, built in 1884 in the style of the Italian Renaissance, is located in the churchyard. The Hildebrandt Mausoleum can be visited on request. Information boards at the church in Dänischenhagen help visitors explore the grounds and their attractions. The church also houses an organ that originated from an instrument built in 1855 by the Marcussen and Son workshop in Apenrade.

History

Along the "KulturSpuren Dänemark" route, Dänischenhagen is listed as a place with traces of Danish regional history. The "KulturSpuren Dänemark" cycling tour extends beyond Kiel into neighboring municipalities, including Dänischenhagen. A document from 1319 indicates that a church already existed in Slabbenhagen, also known as Dänischenhagen. Dänischenhagen is considered a worthwhile stop for vacationers and day-trippers.
