Bünsdorf: Hotels and Accommodation

Bünsdorf is located in the eastern part of Hüttener Berge Nature Park. The landscape is considered a glacially formed terminal moraine area with characteristic hedgerows and field paths.

Nature and Paths

There are nature walks around Wühren, Mückenbarg and the Schirnau in Bünsdorf. In Hüttener Berge Nature Park, hiking routes range from 3 to 17 km, while cycling routes range from 14 to 40 km.

The playground by the lake is located directly next to Bünsdorf’s bathing area and public barbecue area. Public toilets are located next to the playground by the lake and are open during the summer months.

Water Landscape

For more than 10,000 years, the Schirnau has drained the Wittensee and its surrounding area. Kingfishers and white-throated dippers can still be observed along the Schirnau. Wühren’s sports harbour has space for sailing boats, motorboats and rowing boats.

History and Culture

The first documented mention of St. Catherine’s Church dates back to around 1300. In 1659, it burned down almost to its foundations; parts of its walls remained intact. During the rebuilding after the fire of 1659, the bell tower was integrated into the church.

An official historical walking tour leads through Bünsdorf’s village history, nature and rural character. In addition, a Dutch windmill with a cellar was built in Bünsdorf in 1870.

The farmhouse at Dörpstraat 27 is listed as a simple cultural monument of the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district. At the Bünsdorf dairy, cream was separated into butter and buttermilk; cheese was not produced there.
