Regna: Discover Hiking, Lakes and Culture
Accommodation in Regna
Regna among Lakes, Nature and History
Regna brings together a variety of travel experiences: In Regna kyrkby, you will encounter a historic village centre, while paths along lakes and through a nature reserve add experiences of nature to your stay. Regna kyrkby lies in the southern part of Lake Regnaren and is the historic centre of the area. This makes the village a clear starting point for visitors who want to combine the landscape with regional history.
For a hike, the route between Regna Church and Älgsjön is available. The trail is approximately 11 kilometres long and is considered easy to walk. It runs almost exclusively along gravel and forest paths. Take the length into account when planning your day and choose this tour if you are looking for a longer route in a natural setting. At the Älgsjön bathing area, you can swim in clear, shallow water. The trail and the bathing area can therefore be regarded as two different focal points of a trip to Regna, without requiring any particular itinerary for the day.
Regnaholm Deciduous Forest Nature Reserve
In the vicinity of Regna lies the Regnaholm deciduous forest nature reserve on the shore of Lake Regnaren, near Regnaholm Castle. A marked 2.2-kilometre hiking trail runs through the area. Along the trail are remains of clay ovens, a charcoal-burning site and traces of a charcoal burner's hut. These points of interest give the walk a historical connection to the use of the forest, without limiting you to a purely nature-oriented hike.
The nature reserve area is also interesting for observing nature: In the Hästhagen area, the very rare butterfly “svartfläckig högstjärt” has been recorded together with 183 other insect species. Those interested in biodiversity therefore have a specific reason to include the short marked trail and the landscape around Regnaren in their travel plans.
Regna Church and Trails with Lake Views
Regna Church represents the eventful history of the village. The first known church at the site was built of stone in the Middle Ages. The present Regna Church was built in 1785 according to plans by district master builder Magnus Beurling. A major fire destroyed it in 1913; in 1914–1915, it was rebuilt on the old walls. Visitors to Regna kyrkby can connect this historical context with the character of the village and its location on Lake Regnaren.
Further hiking options provide views of the landscape: The route between Rejmyre and Regna Church offers beautiful views of the landscape near Lake Långtvaren. The hiking trail between Regna and Tjuttorp also runs along Lake Långtvaren and offers beautiful views there. When choosing accommodation in Regna, it may therefore be decisive whether you primarily want to focus on the historic village centre, the short trail in the nature reserve, the longer route to the bathing area or the lake-related hiking trails.
