Zemitz: Hotels and Accommodations

Zemitz is located in the Lassaner Winkel, about seven kilometers south of Wolgast and seven kilometers north of Lassan.

Landscape and Bodies of Water

The municipality borders the Peene River to the east. The Brebowbach flows through the municipality toward the Peene River. Hohe See is the only notable lake named within the municipality.

The Rauhe Berg lies southeast of Zemitz. At 43 meters above sea level, it is the highest elevation in the municipality. The surrounding area of Zemitz also includes Schlossinsel, an island, and Möwenort, a cape.

History and Surroundings

Zemitz was first documented in 1504 under the name “Sumentz”.

The surrounding area is home to Wasserschloss Quilow, a castle, the Trabbi-Scheune, a museum, as well as Wolgast Zoo and the Trassenheide Butterfly Farm, both zoos. The wider regional area also includes the Peenemünde Power Plant Museum and the Sauerstoffwerk Peenemünde ruins.
