Geographical Setting

Klein Bünzow is situated in a flat, sparsely wooded landscape without any major hills or bodies of water. The municipality belongs to the Vorpommern-Greifswald district and is administered by the Züssow municipal office.

Culture and History

Groß Bünzow is the municipality’s church and parish center. The estate there was formerly operated as a manor house. The year 1257 is documented for Groß Bünzow; the distinction between Groß and Klein Bünzow was first recorded in 1300.

In the immediate vicinity of Klein Bünzow are Quilow Moated Castle, a castle, the Trabbi Barn, a museum, the Maria Magdalena Church in Schlatkow, a church, and Quilow Village Church, also a church.

Nature

The Schlatkow traditional orchard meadow, a park, is located in the nearby surroundings. In the wider regional area are Wolgast Zoo, a zoo, and the Trassenheide Butterfly Farm, also a zoo. The Anklam City Park, a park, is located in the surrounding area.

In the wider Vorpommern-Greifswald area, the Peene Valley is a renaturalized lowland moorland landscape with shallow-water zones that serve as a refuge for waterfowl. Since 2011, it has been designated as the Peene Valley River Landscape Nature Park.
