The settlement now known as Wrangelsburg was first documented in 1345 under the name “Vorwerk.”

Wrangelsburg lies six kilometers northeast of Züssow and 17 kilometers southeast of Greifswald in Vorpommern-Greifswald. The northern part of the municipal area is forested. Federal highway 109 runs through the municipal area.
