Gribow: Hotels and Accommodation

Gribow lies on a hill at approximately 22 to 26 metres above sea level. The Swinow flows through the municipality on its course from Karlsburg towards the Peene south of Gützkow. Gribow is a municipality in Vorpommern-Greifswald, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

History and Place Name

Gribow was first mentioned in documents in 1320 and is considered to be of Slavic origin. The place name Gribow is derived from “grip”, the word for mushroom. Historical forms of the name are Grybow and Griebow.

Landscape

The Kuckucksberg, a hill, is located in the immediate vicinity of Gribow. The surrounding area also contains the Schlatkow orchard meadow, a park. Further afield in the region lies Lubmin Beach, a beach.

Culture and Surroundings

The area surrounding Gribow includes, among other places, Quilow Moated Castle, a castle, the Trabbi-Scheune, a museum, as well as St Mary Magdalene Church in Schlatkow and Quilow Village Church, both churches. Further afield in the region surrounding Gribow is Wolgast Zoo, a zoo.

Gribow is located approximately 22 kilometres southwest of Wolgast and six kilometres east of Gützkow.
