Landscape

The area around Roggenstorf is characterized by fields, forests, and hedgerows. The village is situated in the hilly landscape of Northwestern Mecklenburg.

Village Church and Local History

Roggenstorf Village Church has a simple interior with dove-blue pews. A plaque at the vicarage commemorates Fritz Reuter’s marriage in 1851.

The Speckturm is a church-like fieldstone building dating from 1856. It served as a smokehouse for the entire village. The grounds of the former manor house in Rankendorf have been restored.

Historic Places in the Surrounding Area

Rooms are rented year-round at Preßenhof; historic agricultural equipment is also displayed there. Luisenhof is located directly on the B105. During the GDR era, its grounds were the first checkpoint for the inner-German border zone, access to which was restricted.

Grevenstein Mill

The surviving stump of Grevenstein Mill dates from 1903. Grevenstein Mill is used as an exhibition venue for the geology of northern Germany, features an observation platform, and houses exhibitions on local history.
