Northwest Mecklenburg: Hotels and Accommodation

Northwest Mecklenburg is a rural district in the northwest of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the Baltic Sea coast. The district includes the mainland and the Baltic Sea island of Poel. It encompasses the coastal area of the Klützer Winkel as well as the Baltic Sea coast near Wismar and Poel.

Coast and Waters

Several larger inland lakes are located in the district, including Lake Neukloster, Great Warin Lake, Lake Groß Labenz and the Schwerin Outer Lake. To the west, the district borders Lake Schaalsee.

The natural environment in the wider regional area includes Baltic Sea coasts, inland lakes, forests, protected areas, cliffs, dunes and coastal ecosystems. The wider regional area also includes Rosenhagen Beach, Dog Beach 1 and Wangernp Beach.

Nature and Activities

Walking opportunities in the wider regional area include the border trail along the Green Belt around Lake Mechow. Cycling opportunities there also include gravel biking and the Brodten Cliff Coast Cycle Route.

Culture and History

The district administration maintains an archive dedicated to preserving regional history. In the vicinity of Northwest Mecklenburg are the village church in Bössow, a district of Warnow, the Stone Age village of Kussow, the town church of St. James and St. Dionysius in Gadebusch, and St. Nicholas Church in Dassow. The wider regional area also includes the State Museum in Schwerin.
