Schildetal: Hotels and Accommodation

Schildetal is mentioned as a location on the regional R9 cycle route. The route connects Schwerin and Zarrentin over 47 kilometers.

Culture and History

Schildetal regularly hosts cultural events, including an annual village festival. Badow Estate was first documented in 1230. The chapel in Badow dates from 1847 and has three eight-part vaults in the character of English Gothic architecture. The chapel can be visited by appointment through the Döbbersen parish office.

The present-day Badow manor house was built in 1906 in neo-Baroque style on 17th-century vaulted cellars; the plans were drawn up by architect Paul Korff. The manor house contains a collection of historic carriages, and holiday apartments are also offered there.

Nature

Badow Estate Park contains avenues of lime trees and chestnut trees, old oaks, monumental yew trees, rhododendrons, and a red-leaved English oak. Badow is considered to be located on the edge of the Schaalsee Biosphere Reserve.

Carriage rides through the surrounding meadows and forests can be requested in Badow. There is also a small private herd of horses there.
