Pokrent preserves visible traces of its medieval past: remnants of the rampart and moat of the medieval Mikenborg Castle can still be seen today. They are classified as an archaeological monument.

History and townscape

Pokrent and Alt-Pokrent were first mentioned in the Ratzeburg tithe register in 1230. The present-day church was built immediately after the Reformation and is considered the first church in Mecklenburg from the post-Reformation period.

The village center is formed by the church, the cemetery, the rectory, and the former estate. Today, the former estate is predominantly used for residential purposes.
