Oskarshamn can be discovered through a wide range of experiences: A walking trail follows the coast of Uvö, museums tell stories of art and shipping, and large-scale street art adorns building walls and public spaces. Those who want to tailor their stay to their interests will find several clearly distinct focal points – from a short nature trail to a cultural and historical tour.

Coast and trails around Uvö

Just south of Saltvik in Oskarshamn, Uvö offers a pleasant coastal walking trail. The nature trail on Uvö is approximately 2.2 kilometres long and takes about 45 minutes at a brisk pace. This means the trail is described as an experience in its own right, without requiring you to plan a longer excursion. For orientation, there is a car park at the end of Rotviksvägen, just before the bridge to Uvö.

The Havslätt outdoor area focuses on exercise. It has three exercise trails measuring 7.3, 5.0 and 2.4 kilometres. The shortest trail is illuminated. Behind Oskarshamn Hospital, there are also three mountain biking trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels. The nature trail, exercise trails and mountain biking trails therefore represent different ways of actively experiencing the landscape.

Museums between woodcarving and shipping

The Döderhultarmuseet displays a unique collection of almost 200 of Döderhultarn's finest wood sculptures. Guided tours of the Döderhultarmuseet can be booked for groups. The Sjöfartsmuseet offers a maritime perspective on the region, with objects related to specialised crafts, ship models and navigation equipment on display. At the same time, the museum provides insights into the development of shipping in the Oskarshamn region.

The Sjöfartsmuseet also has a large children's play area. There, the galley and wheelhouse of the ship Thyra invite children to cook and steer the ship at sea. The Båt- och maskinmuseet at Norra Kajen displays wooden workboats built at various shipyards in Oskarshamn Municipality. Outside the Båt- och maskinmuseet, the museum ship Nalle lies moored in Oskarshamn harbour.

Manor house, the Gustavian era and street art

The Prunketage exhibition at Fredriksbergs herrgård showcases examples of the architecture, art and furniture design of the Gustavian era. Fredriksbergs herrgård was built in 1783 by cavalry officer Peter Reincke Cederbaum and his wife Maria Fredrika Wernberg. The historical collection also includes an 18th-century mineral collection. This makes the site a combination of architectural history, design and a collection related to natural history.

Oskarshamn Street Art leads to colourful murals by world-renowned artists on building walls and in public spaces. The large-scale public art is accessible around the clock and all year round. A municipal art walk between the murals turns it into a sightseeing format of its own. You can therefore approach the visit as an open-ended tour through the urban area, while museums and historic sites are more closely tied to specific exhibitions and collections.
