Kristdala: Hiking, the Meteorite Lake and Local History
Accommodation in Kristdala
Hiking trails or local history: Kristdala offers different starting points for planning your trip. The surrounding area focuses on marked routes and nature, while the town itself adds a church with a documented construction history and other historic sites. If you choose a destination based on activities, you can consider nature and cultural heritage as two distinct focal points.
Hiking and scenery around Kristdala
Several marked hiking trails around Kristdala pass through the HumlenÀs Nature Reserve; the Ostkustleden also runs through the reserve. BrÄbygdens vandringsled includes three trails in the surrounding area, ranging from 1.5 to 7 kilometres. This range gives you a practical guide to the distance you want to cover: these options include both shorter and longer hikes. The trail starts at BrÄbo B&B and Café in the town centre. Stage 2 of the Ostkustleden follows the road towards Kristdala for a short stretch. The HumlenÀs Nature Reserve is also within cycling distance of Kristdala.
South of Kristdala lies the Hummeln meteorite lake, one of only eight surviving impact craters in Sweden. On the lake, Kristdala Kanot offers the option of renting a canoe; the necessary equipment is also provided. The nature experiences therefore differ: around HumlenÀs, marked hiking trails take centre stage, while at Hummeln it is the lake and the opportunity to go canoeing.
The church and local history
In the centre of Kristdala stands Kristdala kyrka, a Neoclassical nave church built of natural stone, with a side sacristy building. It was consecrated on 12 May 1799. Its well-preserved Neoclassical interior is typical of the period in which it was built. The church also houses two medieval coats of arms that belonged to Lyder and Henrik Svinakula in the 14th century. This means that one building brings together the Neoclassical style of its period and artefacts dating from the 14th century.
PrÀstgÄrdsparken consists of a rocky hill densely covered with lime and oak trees. A stone bench was installed there in 1832. The park description thus combines a distinctive landform with a dated historic feature. Kristdala Sommarmarknad also has a long tradition dating back to 1813.
Kristdala HembygdsgĂ„rd comprises several buildings, including a country shop, a tailorâs workshop and a shoemakerâs workshop. Their different uses offer insight into trade and crafts as themes in local history. Visits can be booked through Kristdala Hembygdsförening. If you would like to visit the buildings, arrange a time with the association in advance.
