Mills and Museum History

A special gateway to the town's history is the Morten Korch Museum. It is located in the historic Fyllested Mølle building next to the Kærsgaard Transport Museum in Brenderup. Visits to the museum can be arranged on any day of the week. The use of the power of the Store Å to mill flour can be traced back to the 16th century at Fyllested Mølle. When visiting the museum, you can see the old water turbine and generator through the floor. Both once generated electricity for the whole of Brenderup and contributed to the town's early industrial development.

Kærsgaard Estate and Historical Collections

Kærsgaard Estate also represents Brenderup's long history. The estate can be traced back to the 15th century and was then one of the two principal estates of Brenderup Parish. The present main building dates from 1815 to 1817. It is 7.5 metres long and 9 metres deep, whitewashed and topped with a blue-glazed hipped roof. The main building was listed as a protected monument in 1918. The estate includes a transport museum with more than 60 carriages and working horse-drawn wagons, as well as a larger collection of older agricultural equipment. The range therefore extends from architectural history to historic vehicles and agriculture.

Church and Craftsmanship from Funen

Brenderup Church was built in the 13th century as a Romanesque ashlar church with a nave, chancel and apse. Numerous late Gothic alterations and extensions changed its appearance between approximately 1450 and 1550. Today, it is a typical, imposing village church in western Funen. Flensted Mobiler provides another cultural highlight: the company has been selling mobiles across three generations since 1953. The mobiles are handcrafted with precision and care by skilled home workers from Funen. Flensted Mobiler operates in Frederiksminde, an old village school.
