BÃ¥ring: Flat Coast, Beach and Walking Trails

BÃ¥ring combines a flat coastal landscape with various opportunities for walks, hikes and days at the beach. BÃ¥ring Vig at BÃ¥ring Beach is generally flat. Those who value manageable coastal features, paths through different landscapes and straightforward outdoor stays when choosing their destination will find several clearly distinct points of interest here.

BÃ¥ring Ege at BÃ¥ring Vig

BÃ¥ring Ege is a one-kilometre-long, flat coastline at BÃ¥ring Vig on western Funen. The beach consists of sand and small stones, giving it a different appearance from a purely sandy beach. Behind BÃ¥ring Ege Beach is a large grassy area with tables and benches. BÃ¥ring Ege also has a car park and a toilet. These specific features make it easier to get your bearings on site when you want to combine a stretch of coast with space for spending time outdoors.

The beach meadow at the BÃ¥ring Vig shelter site is also part of the landscape. It is protected under Section 3 of the Danish Nature Protection Act and is grazed by sheep in summer. The BÃ¥ring Vig shelter site is easy to reach on foot, by bicycle and by car.

Hiking and Cycling on Different Scales

The BÃ¥ring Vig hiking route is a varied hike of approximately 5 km through woodland, fields and coastal areas. Its approximate length remains an important point of reference: it describes a manageable hike without reducing the character of the changing landscapes to a single setting. For a different view of BÃ¥ring, there is the BÃ¥ring-Asperup route. It is 2.9 km long and passes through older and newer parts of the village.

The 100-km cultural route passes Båring Bay. It is intended for cycling trips or hikes through the charming and scenic villages of Funen. The different lengths help you distinguish between the options when planning: on the one hand, there are shorter routes through coastal areas, woodland, fields and village areas; on the other, there is a considerably longer cultural route offering a regional view of Funen’s villages.

Beach Days and Time Outdoors

BÃ¥ring Beach has a purpose-built beach volleyball court. The water remains shallow there as far as the end of the jetty, making the beach very suitable for children. In addition to its coastal setting, this gives the beach a clear practical appeal for families looking for shallow water and a sporting activity on the same stretch of beach.

BÃ¥ring Skov offers another opportunity to spend time outdoors. The area was formerly called BÃ¥ring Sommerland and has a large lawn where people can spend time outdoors. Together with the green areas at BÃ¥ring Ege and the beach meadow at the BÃ¥ring Vig shelter site, this creates a landscape of coast, open spaces and paths through different types of terrain. Depending on your focus, you can therefore make the beach, village paths, woodland, fields or a longer cultural route the centrepiece of your days in BÃ¥ring.
