Båring Strand between Coast, Nature and Active Days

At Båring Strand, the coast presents itself in a contained, clearly defined form: The beach is approximately 1.2 km long and consists throughout of a 5–10 m-wide strip of sand and small stones. Behind the beach, along most of the coast, lies a beach meadow with mixed low vegetation. Those looking for open shores and a clearly recognisable landscape structure during a coastal stay will find the beach, meadow and coastline closely adjoining one another here.

Coast, Meadows and Båring Vig

Båring Strand lies in a coastal area with protected nature under Section 3, including dry grassland and beach meadows. The beach meadow facing the sea at the Båring Vig shelter site is protected under Section 3 of the Danish Nature Protection Act. Route 7 passes Båring Vig, an inner basin formed 20,000 years ago by a glacial advance. Båring Vig thus provides a distinct landscape feature within the coastal area.

Hiking, Swimming and Fishing

The Båring Vig walking route is a varied 5-km hike through woodland, fields and coast. For active days, it therefore offers a clearly described transition between several different landscapes.

Along Route 7 at Båring Strand, there are toilets, tables with benches, parking spaces and a bathing beach. Båring Strand also has a purpose-built beach volleyball court. The water remains shallow all the way to the end of the pier, making the beach well suited to children.

The Båring Strand – Havørred Fyn Hotspot No. 113 section offers sea trout fishing by wading on the sandbanks and casting over the dark belts. At the fishing section of Båring Strand, there is a year-round protected area on the western side in front of the Aulby Mølleå. On the eastern side, by the small trout stream, there is a seasonal protected area from 15 September up to and including 15 March. For classifying the fishing section, the distinction between a year-round and a seasonal protected area is essential.

Shelter Site and Båring Skov

The Båring Vig shelter site has two identical shelters of the “Stenbideren” type, each with space for five people. The two shelters at the Båring Vig shelter site are approximately 180 m from the water, where swimming is possible. The approximate distance places the site directly in relation to the coast, without equating the shelter itself with the bathing beach.

Nearby lies Båring Skov, with a large lawn where picnics are possible; there is a picnic table set and a toilet there.

The Ranke Tale

The nursery rhyme about the giant Ranke has been passed down in the area for centuries. According to the local Ranke tradition, he is said to be buried somewhere between Båring and the beach.
