Kobæk Strand between the bathing bridge, forest and fjord

Kobæk Strand brings together several specific sites: the bathing area by the water, Kobæk Skov, the Kobæk Sø wetland and trails with views of the fjord, islands and Storebælt.

Beach days with shallow water

At Kobæk Strand, there is a 90-metre-long bathing bridge in front of the Kobæk Strand Konferencecenter. There is also a bathing platform for toddlers. The shallow water at Kobæk Strand is suitable for swimming, playing and gentle water sports such as kayaking and stand-up paddling. This means that time by the water can be enjoyed in different ways depending on your interests: with peaceful hours on the shore, playful moments on the beach or a short trip on the water.

Trails through forest and landscape

Trails lead from Kobæk Strand through Kobæk Skov and onwards along the outer fjord. The Kobæk hiking trail is not marked and can only be followed using a map, GPS or a smartphone. This characteristic is relevant to practical orientation before a hike: you need a suitable digital or cartographic aid to follow the route. Lodshusstien passes the protected Møllebakken viewpoint hill, providing another stretch for anyone who would like to combine the beach with a walk through the landscape.

Wetland, forest and birdwatching

Kobæk Skov was established in 2006 on an area of 95 hectares, almost 1 km², between Skælskør and Kobæk Strand. North of the road to Kobæk Strand lies Kobæk Sø, a created freshwater wetland with numerous waterbirds. A wheelchair-accessible bird tower stands at the southern edge of Kobæk Sø. The beach meadows near Kobæk Skov are also part of Natura 2000 site no. 162 "Skælskør Fjord og havet og kysten mellem Agersø og Glænø".

Views of the coast and islands

A viewpoint with tables and benches offers views over Kobæk Strand, the Storebælt coast and the shallow beach meadows. In good weather, Storebæltsbroen and the islands of Agersø and Omø can be seen from Kobæk Strand. From Møllebakken, the protected viewpoint hill on Lodshusstien, you can look across Agersøsund and the Storebælt in clear weather. The different viewpoints make it clear how closely the beach, the island landscape and the open waters are connected in the way this place is experienced.

Lodshusstien as a historic route

Lodshusstien, from which a branch leads to Kobæk Strand, was used by residents of Agersø and Omø as a church path until their own churches were built in the 16th century. The route therefore represents not only today's impressions of the landscape, but also an earlier connection between the island residents and the mainland.
