Gryfino is located on the Odra Wschodnia, the eastern branch of the Oder. The western branch is about 2 km from the city center and forms the border with Germany.

The Crooked Forest is located in Nowe Czarnowo, just outside Gryfino. In the wider area around Gryfino, Gryfino Municipality includes forest areas with diverse fauna, including red deer, roe deer, wild boar, and waterfowl.

A cycle route runs through Gryfino from the border of Gryfino County with Szczecin to Nowe Czarnowo. There is an official parking lot on Energetyków Street next to the Regalica, as well as an informal parking area near the bridge.
