Butryny is home to the Church of the Apostle James, which was built between 1689 and 1724. It was rebuilt in the Neo-Gothic style in 1887–1888; inside are a Baroque altar dated 1681 and a painting of Saint Anthony with the Child dating from the 17th century.
History
Butryny was founded by the Warmian chapter; the settlement charter was issued on November 3, 1412.

A circular cycling route connects Butryny with Lake Łańskie. It runs mainly through wooded areas and passes interesting natural features. The municipal cycling network also includes a route from Olsztyn via Przykop to Butryny.
