Partille: Hiking, Nature and Culture

The Bokedalen nature trail is a 4-kilometre-long, moderately difficult hiking trail. It runs along forest paths and boardwalks through varied woodland, passing cultural attractions along the way.

Partille’s immediate surroundings also include Sävedalen and Partille.

Nature

The Bokedalen nature reserve comprises beech and oak forests, older pine-dominated natural forests, farmland, grazed pastures, avenues and park areas with old broad-crowned deciduous trees. The area covers approximately 275 hectares, is part of the Natura 2000 network and is managed by Partille Municipality.

The nature reserve borders directly on Jonsered, where the commuter train stops. Salmon, white-throated dippers, kingfishers and grey wagtails can be found in the Jonsered rapids.

The Björnareåsen nature reserve combines greenstone terrain, old pine forest, ravines, cliffs and plenty of deadwood with a diverse flora. Among other things, it contains the municipality’s largest population of liverleaf.

Hiking and trails

In the Knipeflågsbergen nature reserve, there is an approximately 3-kilometre loop to the plateau, the 5-kilometre Ugglemossen runt loop, and the 3.5-kilometre Sörlyckan–Bertilssons stuga trail.

Stage 4 of the Bohusleden is 8 kilometres long and runs from Kåsjön to Jonsered, mostly along forest paths. A longer and fairly steep section with stairs brings the hike down to Jonsered. The section of Stage 5 of the Bohusleden in Partille, from Jonsered towards Angereds kyrka, is approximately 7.5 kilometres long, moderately difficult and challenging in places; it also runs mostly along forest paths.

Prästtjärn runt is a marked, 3-kilometre loop with a shelter and an informal swimming spot from the rocky shore. Stage 4 of the Gotaleden from Jonsered to Lerum is 10 kilometres long, rated red in terms of difficulty, estimated to take 2 to 3 hours, and leads uphill towards Goråsbergen with views of Lake Aspen.

Hittaut in Partille is a free activity in which various checkpoints in urban areas, parks, residential areas and forests are sought using a paper map or an app. You can participate alone or together with others on foot, running, by bicycle or in another way.

Water

Kåsjöbadet is served by bus routes 512 and 516 from Partille centre. Both routes stop at the Kåsjön bus stop, directly beside the beach.

Humlebadet on Lake Aspen has a small sandy beach, a bathing jetty and a floating diving platform. Humlebadet can be reached by commuter train to Jonsered, followed by a scenic walk of just under one kilometre.

Culture and history

The Jonsered factory ensemble is a nationally significant cultural landscape. It includes, among other things, “Nybygget”, Sweden’s first row houses, and a technically pioneering granite power station building inaugurated in 1901. Jonsered itself is a nationally significant industrial cultural landscape with Anglo-Saxon-influenced architecture and a pronounced character as a workers’ and factory community.

Jonsereds Trädgårdar is open to everyone, and admission is always free. The grounds include classical garden areas, exhibition gardens and a biodiversity trail. The gardens are a free interpretation of the former estate garden beside Jonsereds herrgård. The manor acquired its present appearance in 1868 and was the home of factory founder William Gibson and his family for almost 100 years.

Jonsereds herrgårdsscen offers a programme of various cultural events every summer. It is organised by Föreningen Jonsereds herrgårdsscen and Kulturella in cooperation with Partille Municipality.

Partille Kulturum is the municipality’s centre for culture and education and offers a library, several concert stages, a café and an exhibition hall. It can be reached by bus or commuter train; the train journey from Gothenburg Central Station takes seven minutes, with passengers getting off at Partille station.

Jonsereds kyrka is built of white-rendered brick in an English-inspired Gothic Revival style. The church was built from 1858 to 1860 and inaugurated in May 1860.

Partille Händer organises craft-related activities for the public in the former industrial building Kniven next to Partille station. Kniven is a creative workshop and event venue in former industrial premises beside the Säveån River; it hosts crafts, exhibitions and open-air concerts.

In the wider regional area around Partille is the Världskulturmuseet, a museum. The Göteborgs Konstmuseum, also a museum, is likewise located in the wider regional area. The Röhsska museet, a museum, is also located in the vicinity of Partille.
