Nature and Trails

The Kroppefjäll nature area covers 23,000 hectares of forests and lakes, includes twelve nature reserves, and has more than 100 km of hiking trails. Kroppefjällsleden is a 54 km hiking trail divided into two stages. The 15 km historic Karl XII:s väg trail crosses Kroppefjäll. The Karolinerstugan hut on Karl XII:s väg is open to the public year-round. Different trail lengths and stage divisions provide various points of comparison for personal planning.

The direct overview of the area includes Färgelanda, Rådanefors, Ödeborg, Stigen and Högsäter.

Cycling and Waterways

Färgelanda is connected to the 180 km Lelångenleden cycling trail. The foot and cycle path between Färgelanda and Ödeborg follows the former route of the Lelångebanan railway and runs alongside the Valboån River. Färgelanda has cycling tours connected to historic sights such as graves and buildings. The Flottarleden can be paddled from Ellenösjön or Östersjön through Färgelanda towards Bohuslän and Kaserna. There are overnight sites and barbecue facilities along the Flottarleden.

Culture and History

Färgelanda kyrka was inaugurated on 20 July 1873. Its old churchyard has medieval origins; a free-standing burial chapel for the Rydingswärd family has been preserved there. Färgelanda konsthall, located on the upper floor of Centrumshuset in Färgelanda, presents various types of art year-round. Färgelanda konsthall holds eight to ten exhibitions annually. Kulturrunda No. 2 is a visitor route that passes through Färgelanda and Bäckefors.
