Bollebygd: Kulturstråket, Forest Trails and Lakes

When you explore Bollebygd, the oldest centre is located where the valleys meet; it includes the church and the vicarage. The history of Tingshuset also goes back a long way: the building was erected in the mid-17th century and used as a courthouse until the 20th century. Hultafors is also part of the immediate area around Bollebygd.

Culture

Bollebygds kyrka has a well-preserved exterior that is typical of the simple Neoclassicism of the first half of the 19th century. The church also preserves a medieval baptismal font, probably dating from before the mid-13th century. There is also a 15th-century rood cross with a figure of Jesus from the earlier medieval church.

Odinslund is a former doctor's villa from the mid-19th century that became a cultural centre and now houses the library. The Galleri Odinslund is also located in this library at Odens väg 16; it is run by the Bollebygd cultural association. Bollebygds hembygdsgård preserves buildings and objects from the history of the area, including a barn, a one-blade saw, a forge and a bell tower. The site also includes a bakehouse where bread is baked in a wood-fired oven according to old recipes.

Kulturstråket in Bollebygd is a cultural route that connects exercise, history and attractions in the main locality. Bollebygd's municipal tourist information office is located in the reception of the town hall on the square in the centre of Bollebygd.

Nature

Bäckravinen is used for dog walking, exercise and nature experiences. It offers opportunities for birdwatching and experiencing the changing seasons. The landscape shaped by the stream features lush vegetation, open areas and elements of the cultural landscape.

Rävaberget is a natural area with patches of forest, rocky outcrops and clearly marked trails for outdoor recreation close to home. The area is used for walking, playing and exploring. In summer, grazing sheep help keep the landscape open and promote biodiversity.

At Hulta damm, there are places to sit where visitors can enjoy fika beside the rapids. Bollebygd also has several lakes with beautiful, child-friendly bathing spots. The area has several major hiking trails through landscapes ranging from deep forest to open countryside, as well as nature trails and canoe routes.

Trails

The Vägen till hälsa loop around Erikstorp in Bollebygd can be used for walking, cycling or running. There is an information board with a map at Gästgivartorget along the loop; walkers can start or leave it at any point.

In the vicinity of Bollebygd, there are seven clearly marked hiking trails in Gesebol. They range from 1.9 to 11.2 kilometres in length and pass through forests and farmland and alongside small forest lakes. In Töllsjö, there are three clearly marked hiking trails of different lengths that begin at the local Hembygdsgården.

Sjuhäradsleden runs between Hindås and Mullsjö, is 14 Swedish miles long and is divided into stages. Parts of stages 1 and 3, as well as stage 2, pass through Bollebygd Municipality. One stage begins one kilometre north of Olsfors; there is parking and information at Omegastugan, while the nearest bus stop, Olsfors, is 1.5 kilometres away.

Surroundings

The Sjögaredsgrottorna, also known as Töllsjögrottorna, form one of the longest cave systems in Västsverige. Between large boulders, there are child-friendly niches and passages several hundred metres long. BuaSkogen in Olsfors is an adventure and high-rope course in a natural forest area. Downhill cycling is possible at Bollekollen.

In the immediate area, Vedugnsbageriet Brobacken offers a farm shop, fika and wood-fired baked goods made with locally produced ingredients. On a shore in Bollebygd, there was once a building that was used as a sawmill and as a mill for the farm's own needs.
