Sövde: Lake Sövdesjön, Hiking Trails and Culture

Water, Trails and Rural Culture in Sövde

Those wishing to combine experiences on the water, outdoor activity and culture during their trip will find several clearly distinct points of interest in Sövde. Lake Sövdesjön is one of the fishing waters in the Sjöbo area. Sövdebadet has bathing jetties, toilets and parking spaces; in summer, a kiosk also supplements the facilities. This describes both a body of water for anglers and a designated place with practical facilities for spending time by the water.

Hiking and Finding Your Way Locally

Two hiking trails have been created near the village of Sövde. The trails are marked on site with directional arrows and colour markings. Anyone choosing a hike not only based on the landscape but also on navigation along the way will find a concrete distinction here: the route is visible along the trails themselves. For your travel planning, Sövde can therefore be combined with a stay where you can switch between experiences on the water and marked trails without relying on additional local services.

Amphitheatre, Church and Historic Houses

The Sövde Amphitheatre offers concerts and entertainment every summer. It was built on the site of a former gravel pit. The floor area is 2,000 m², and the grass-covered slopes are approximately 15 m high. Free parking is available at the sports ground or in the meadows along Sövdemöllavägen; from the parking areas, it is about a five-minute walk to the venue.

Sövde Church, with its 13th-century west tower, is part of the area’s older architectural and local history. The church cemetery is located on a promontory in Lake Sövdesjön. Several older houses in Sövde once belonged to Sövdeborg. They have the form of low half-timbered houses characteristic of Scanian gatehouses and crofter houses, often with thatched roofs. The church, cemetery and houses each highlight something different: sacred architecture, the setting by the lake and a traditional rural building style.

Active Days with Cycling, Sauna and Pickleball

For mountain biking, Salsbjer in Sövde offers a 3 km blue trail with single-track sections, banked turns and rollers. There is also a 3.3 km blue-red mountain-bike trail with sections featuring cross-riding and descents. A mountain-bike skills area for the whole family complements these two trails.

On Lake Sövdesjön, the sauna boat Bastubåten can be booked for a trip with a skipper for your own group. It can also be booked for sauna bathing at the jetty. Another active leisure option can be found on land: Sövde’s pickleball courts are located in the middle of the forest. The options thus range from marked hiking and mountain-bike trails and a skills area to activities on and by the water.
