Harlösa – Culture, Hiking Trails and Landscape
Accommodation in Harlösa
The Harlösabäcken stream flows through Harlösa. When choosing your accommodation, you can first decide whether to focus on historical sights, hiking, viewpoints or a seasonal visit.
Culture between the Station House, Museum and Church
One of the most striking buildings is Harlösa Station House. It was built in an Art Nouveau style that is rare and exceptionally well executed for buildings of this type. The building was constructed for the Landskrona–Kävlinge–Sjöbo railway: construction began in May 1905, and the building was completed in December 1906. Today, the Station House is used as a library. Anyone interested in architecture and transport history can gain a tangible insight here into the development of the town.
Harlösa Donationshus is now a museum. It shows what care for the elderly in the 19th century, or poorhouses at the time, could look like. Another major point of cultural and historical interest is Harlösa Church. It was probably built around the year 1200 as a Romanesque stone apse church. Inside is a pulpit that originally served as a gallery pulpit in the triumphal arch between the nave and the chancel. The woodcarver Jacob Kremberg created it in 1641; 17 years later, it was painted and gilded.
Hiking, Viewpoints and Nature
Harlösa can also be used as a starting point for a hike on the Skåneleden trail. The hike between Löberöd and Harlösa can begin in Harlösa; both towns have a bus stop. The Sankt Olofleden pilgrimage trail passes Harlösa Church. In addition, the Skåneleden Nord till syd reaches Harlösa after Hjularöd Castle and continues south towards Lake Krankesjön.
North of Harlösa, next to Harlösa Church, there is a viewpoint. Bligehöj viewpoint is a popular destination with sweeping views over the lakes and heathlands of the P7 Revingehed military training area. For another nature excursion, Borstbäcken Nature Reserve lies 5 kilometres east of Harlösa. There is an approximately eight-kilometre circular trail around the reserve. Take this approximate distance into account when planning your day.
There is also Höghult campsite nearby, between Harlösa and Löberöd. It has a toilet, barbecue area, water and a wind shelter. Anyone planning a stay outdoors can take these facilities into account when planning their trip. The choice of accommodation still depends on your own requirements.
Events for Culture and Cycling Enthusiasts
A special event is Harlösadagen, which takes place every year on 6 June. The event ends at 3 p.m. with Sweden’s largest and longest tractor parade. It starts at Nostalgimacken and proceeds through Harlösa in procession. If you would like to experience this day, plan your trip for 6 June.
For cycling enthusiasts, the Krankesjön Runt cycle race takes place every year in August or September. The start and finish are at Svens Bränneriet. This gives the events calendar another seasonal reason to consider Harlösa from more than just a cultural and historical perspective.
If you would like to compare several places when planning your trip, you can also find Stockamöllan, Flyinge, Marieholm, Eslöv and Stehag. For Harlösa itself, searching for a hotel can be especially well combined with considering whether historical places, hiking trails, natural viewpoints or a specific event date should shape your trip.
