Marieholm can be explored through several clearly distinct attractions: the industrial history of Marieholms wool factory, the Laddran recreational area with its wetlands and trails, Marieholmsbadet, and the Marieholmsturen cycling route. You can choose what to focus on based on what you want to shape your stay: cultural history, a walk, swimming or cycling. Direct Pågatåg connections to Helsingborg, Eslöv, Lund and Malmö are also useful to know about when considering Marieholm as a destination.

Industrial history and flea market

Marieholms wool factory was founded in 1898. About four decades later, it employed around 400 people. The year of its founding marks the beginning, while the approximate number of employees gives an idea of the scale of a later period in the factory’s history. The old industrial buildings house a large flea market selling items and second-hand clothing. The industrial past and a new use for the old buildings can thus be seen side by side. The market adds a distinct focus to the historical perspective: rather than another stop in the factory’s history, it is about goods and used clothing in the old premises. If you are also choosing Marieholm for its industrial history, you can distinguish between the factory’s development and the buildings’ current use.

Laddran: wetlands and trails

The Laddran recreational area lies in the southwest of Marieholm. It includes wetlands and walking trails. The land is managed as hay meadows so that the flora and wildlife can develop naturally. In this way, the landscape and its management go together: the hay meadows are part of the land management, while the wetlands and trails define the character of the area. An easy-to-walk path, about one kilometre long, runs around the pond. There are places to sit along the way where you can take a break. The loop offers a clearly defined focus for a walk; at the same time, the hay meadows draw attention to how the landscape is managed and how it may develop naturally. For trip planning, Laddran therefore offers a different kind of interest from the old industrial buildings: here, the focus is on the natural environment, trails and the pond.

Swimming and cycling

Marieholmsbadet offers another focus. The 25-metre pool measures 25 Ă— 12.5 metres and is between 0.9 and 4 metres deep. There is also a diving tower and a paddling pool for small children. If you are weighing up a day by the water against a walk through the landscape, these offer two distinct activities: the swimming facility has a pool, diving tower and paddling pool; at Laddran, there are wetlands, walking trails and a loop around the pond. The paddling pool is specifically for small children. The dimensions and depth also provide practical information about the pool.

For cyclists, the Marieholmsturen is a 15.9-kilometre cycling route. By comparison, the loop around the pond at Laddran is about one kilometre long and easy to walk. These are different types of route: a manageable walking loop and a longer cycling route. Check route conditions before setting out. Pågatåg connects Marieholm directly with Helsingborg, as well as Eslöv, Lund and Malmö. You can include these connections in your travel plans; it is best to check the current timetable with the transport operator.
