Along the Skåneleden, six information boards have been installed, extending from the southern tip of Barsebäckshamn to Barsebäcksstrand. The route thus combines a coastal stretch with information on site, without the individual stations having to be grouped together as a generic attraction.

A walking route suitable for strolls also runs between Barsebäckshamn and Barsebäcksstrand through the Stenbocks vallar nature area, offering beautiful views over the Öresund. The route forms part of the coastal Skåneleden stretch through Kävlinge Municipality. Stenbocks vallar also includes a defensive embankment dating from the early 18th century. At the edge of Barsebäckshamn, hikers can stay overnight in Näste, meaning “Nest”, a shelter built by architecture students in 2022.

Fishing village and coastal history

As a fishing village, Barsebäckshamn is a distinct cultural focus of the visit. The village landscape illustrates the dense settlement pattern of older fishing villages: small, attached rows of houses stand along the street front. This makes it possible to perceive the historic structure not only through individual buildings, but through the layout of the village itself. The probably plentiful herring catch presumably played a decisive role in the development of Barsebäckshamn during the Middle Ages. The wording deliberately remains cautious, but points to the significance that fishing may have had for the history of the village.

Sea swimming route and observation spots

For choosing between land- and water-based experiences, the sea swimming route between Barsebäckshamn and Barsebäcksstrand is of interest. It is approximately 2.5 kilometres long and marked by eight red buoys. Since 2022, Kävlinge Municipality has installed the sea swimming route in Barsebäck during the summer months. The period during which it is installed is therefore explicitly described as seasonal; this does not imply any further statements about operation, conditions or accessibility.

The surrounding area also offers a clear focus on nature: Barsebäcks mosse has several good birdwatching spots. Among other species, marsh harriers and water rails may be seen there. If you do not want to spend your entire stay by the water, this area complements coastal walks with a different way of experiencing the landscape.
