Sterup: Hotels and Accommodation
A four-kilometre moderate circular trail begins in Sterup and leads through a glacially shaped cultural landscape. The route runs from a moraine ridge into the Lippingau tunnel valley, past the Schönungsteich biotope pond, and through beech forest and the stream ravines of the Steruper Bach.
Landscape and Culture
Opened in 2015, the nature and cultural trail presents 14 sights. One of its stops is St Lawrence Church. Along the route, information boards explain plants, nature, geology and historic buildings of cultural and historical significance.
Church and History
St Lawrence Church dates from the 13th century and was initially a branch chapel of St Mary’s Church in Esgrus. Its west tower was replaced in 1887–1888 by a 52-metre-high brick tower. Inside are a late Gothic winged altarpiece dating from around 1500, a late Gothic side altar from the 16th century, and a Riffelbild by Hans Breckenfeld from 1751.

Sterup belongs to the Ostseefjord-Schlei tourism region and is designated as a health resort.
Regional Products
A farm shop offers homemade fruit products, new culinary creations, homemade liver sausage and apple juice made from apples grown on the farm. It also sells eggs from the farm’s own hens and seasonally prepared pork, subject to availability.
Timm’s Erdbeerhof offers strawberries, raspberries and blueberries for picking yourself and for sale at various stands. The farm includes the self-service shop “Timms Hofschätze”, which offers handmade kitchen products all year round, as well as crafts and gift ideas.
