Strande is located on the Dänischer Wohld peninsula, directly on the Outer Kiel Fjord.
Coast and Trails
A promenade approximately six kilometres long leads from Schilksee to the Bülk Lighthouse. In addition, five colour-coded hiking trails ranging from 3.5 to 11 kilometres in length run around Strande.
Cycling routes from Strande include the Baltic Coast Cycle Route and themed routes through Dänischer Wohld. The European long-distance hiking trail E1 also runs along the shore in the wider area around Strande.
Nature
Fuhlensee has been protected as a nature reserve since 1993. At its northern end is the Verlobungsweg, a forest path.
The waters of the FFH area are an internationally important resting area for waterbirds and coastal birds and have European bird protection status. The FFH area extends eastwards to Strande.
The viewing platform at the Bülk Lighthouse is 22 metres high and offers views of the Baltic Sea, the steep coast and Dänischer Wohld.
Culture
Max Pechstein made preparatory drawings for his painting At the Beach in Strande. The painting is part of the permanent exhibition of Expressionist artists at the Kunsthalle Kiel.
Regional Wine-Growing
Vines were planted at Gut Eckhof in 2018; the first wine was harvested there in 2020.
